I bought a slim DVD drive from servercase.com Its a DVD drive from a laptop, with an IDE adapter on the back. Now... I have it all hooked up and my computer loaded a driver for the drive and windows can see it as well as know whats in it.

If I put in a music CD winamp can identify the CD but not play it.

If I put a data CD/game CD windows explorer can identify the CD but not show me anything on it.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like it can't read the data from the CD, but the index is fine. My drive does the same thing with badly burnt CD's - the TOC is there but halfway through it won't access. Perhaps that's the problem - it simply can't move the head properly to the place on the disc that has the data. You might try booting into a Win98 Emergency disk and see if it works in DOS.

I had a problem like that, and found out it was my Anti Virus program.
