I need to get some burning software since my burner didn't come with any.

I need to burn backups of my DVD's and I need to burn large .iso files. What should I buy?

backing up most production DVD movies is illegal.

However Nero is ideal for all of your legal needs.

Another vote for Nero 7 Ultra Edition. I have it set up on the gf's computer and it has a facility for backing up your data to CD or DVD. Plus, if your drive has LightScribe Support, Nero7 can handle it.

However, I will also be getting my hands on Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 and Ashampoo's Burning Software. I'll give some feedback on the other two.

I understand that it might be "illegal" to have "pirated" software however I go on numerous trips and I don't want to fuck up my dvds when i'm on said trips. What software would I have to use for that?

Retard. He didn't ask how to bypass CSS on his DVDs. He asked for a recommendation on burning software.

no, re-read the question... he's asking for software to backup dvd movies... You know he wants software to break CSS encryption.

What he does with it is his concern. For all we know he could be talking about porn (rarely CSS'd) or other non-protected movies. Maybe he already ripped the DVDs to ISOs or vob files and just needs software to burn them to DVD, a task any legal software (NERO) can do.

It wasn't even an issue until you started a discussion on it with him then throw the rules in his face. If you are so adamant about the rules then don't break them by fostering discussions on illegal DVD copying.

Funny how everyone (including you) all recommended Nero, a program that will NOT break css. I think everyone knew what he was looking for.

The latest version of Nero is pretty bloated. I'm a fan of v6.

Newegg had an OEM version for under $10 a few months ago. Not sure if they still do. I got my hands on one and I'm satisfied.

First of all there's rules on this forum. One of them is not to discuss illegal matters because it hurts the site and the site owner. It puts him at legal risks that is unnecessary. There are plenty of other forums if someone wants illegal advice. Until then I'd suggest you follow the rules if you want to keep your account active.

Yea but the nice thing about Nero is they let you pick and choose what to install. Also if you want you can get just the Nero burning software.

    UH OH. How bloated?
I hope they didn't fuck it up like Roxio is. Roxio puts two files on your drive that add up to what, 1gb or more?:noes:

If they did, it will be a long time before I upgrade from 6.6 ultra.

No. The suite has a ton of apps (it's up to what, 125 megs for the install files?) but you can still install JUST nero and it is still nero, no crappy gay ass user interface.

Some of the apps they include are somewhat useful. Their media player is a version of PowerDVD (but isn't everyone's?) The NeroRECODE is actually an adapted version of DVD Shrink (sans DeCSS) but I hate the UI. NeroVision is a decent DVD producer for quick jobs. There is a decent wave editor too.

Nothing is top of the line (besides Burning ROM) but most of the extras are actually useful. Such a rare thing that.

the answer to the poster's question has been answered.

Nero itself isn't illegal, and neither is "backing up your movies" however, bypassing DRM is illegal (which is required for the majority of movies these days). Discussion about how to, or any topics concerning how or where to find this illegal software are not tolerated here. If you can't go about finding information on any other board but this one, then that is really sad.
