I've just read a review of 10 DVD DL drives and the NEC came out on top. NEC invented the technology and their drives burn the fastest.

I have an LG. Had a few issues with it burning really slowly when I first bought it, but it's working great now.

I've never used anything that has worked for me better or longer than a Pioneer.

I've had 2 DVD burners, both LG. I have had no trouble whatsoever with either of them. Heartily recommend LG.

I have 4 burners, 1 LG GSA-4167B, 2 Pioneers (a 108 and a sweet looking silver A08), and 1 BenQ DW1620. Currently my fav. is the LG because it is the only one that will write DVD-RAM, which I use to archive digitized photos. However I have not had one problem with any of the drives. NEC are good, but it's getting to the point where most people are not going to notice the difference between them and an LG or BenQ.

And before anyone asks, I use DVD-RAM for archiving because of it's minimum 30 year lifespan for the media and it's error checking/correcting capabilities.

That is the one I picked up when I made my PC not too long ago. It is great. I'm thinking of picking up another one, one isn't enough.
