I'm branched AD ordnance and I have to put in my top 10 duty stations (in order of preference). 6 must be CONUS and the other 4 are Germany, Alaska, Korea and Hawaii...and this is due tomorrow morning :ugh: at myself for waiting to do this.

Can anyone recommend or reject any of the following? I have to rank them one through 10. Thanks! :wavey:

    Ft. Irwin
    Ft. Carson
    Ft. Stewart
    Ft. Riley
    Ft. Campbell
    Ft. Polk
    Ft. Bragg
Ft. Drum (closest to home, not sure if it matters)
    Ft. Sill
    Ft. Bliss
    Ft. Hood
Ft. Lewis (attended LDAC here, looked nice for the most part)
    Germany
    Alaska
    Korea
    Hawaii

I live near Fort Lewis, and I love this area so much....couldn't imagine living anywhere else....one reason why I went Reserve so I wouldnt have to move. Can't really help other than to give a +1 for the area.

I was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years and loved every minute of it.

I also lived in Germany when my father was stationed in Frankfurt in the early 90's. I loved it, and wish I'd taken advantage of more things while I was there, but then again I was a teenager and more interested in partying and playing sports and what not than actually getting any culture:o.

Both places I would highly recommend. Of course Germany would also depend on where you get. Some places aren't near anywhere that's any good, others are on the heart of some great places.

typical ROTC cadet. Why the fuck do you wanna go to Drum? That place is miserable. Why is Italy nowhere on your list? They have to have slots of OD guys. Ft Polk is the biggest shithole in the army btw, bigger even than Ft Bliss. Why is Ft Carson not on there either? No Ft Lewis? Ft. Stewart is at least close to Savannah. I wouldnt have totally minded getting stationed there.

ok i switched it upon further advice from a Sgt. Maj.

i moved Drum down to number 5 and moved Bragg to number 1. Italy was not an option for OD...

Hood ALWAYS > Bliss - Bliss has some weird outside units that can suck you up and keep you away from learning the basic LT stuff that you should be focusing on.

ok upon hearing bitches and gripes about Ft. Bragg, I moved Ft. Hood to number 1, and Germany and Hawaii round out the top 3.

Final answer. Plus I heard the area around Aberdeen Proving Grounds is prime for single dudes :noes: At least OBC will be interesting

You moved FT Hood above FT Bragg? :ugh:

  17. Haha I can't imagine APG being a prime place for single dudes. I suppose the surrounding areas of baltimore and annapolis are nice, but at annapolis you got the navy cadets always ruining your game.

My neighbor just went TDY to Lewis. He said it is awesome and they have an awesome all you can eat seafood buffet there.
Sill is not recommended... I hated the area when I passed through there... but have not been stationed there. I was at Sheppard AFB nearby.

I am at APG now... Not recommended for single guys. There's some corn fed heffers out here.. but I'm married so no biggie. Most people love it hre if they are married... a much more relaxed enviornment... where all eyes are on AIT students.

Im currently stationed at Ft. Campbell, I love it here. The town (Clarksville TN) has everything you could possibly need, Nashville isnt a far drive either. If schools are what your interested in, Air Assault is a given and Pathfinder is usually pretty easy to get. Tennessee has no income tax as well.

Ive never been stationed at Ft. Carson, however Colorado Springs is my hometown. Youd be nuts not to include Carson on your list. Tons to do in Colorado Springs especially if you enjoy anything outdoors.

edit: the short list of real turds to stay away from include Ft. Sill (Lawton OK sucks hard) and Ft. Polk (there really is NOTHING there).
