    Lads.

I'm keen to get a bench press going in my room with some dumbells so I can hit that when I get home from university.

I went to a gym last year and mostly went to stay fit but I'm pretty busy this year so my membership expired and I didn't bother renewing.. Anyway the local gyms around here are crappy with their times and most close at 6pm so this is a bit of a pain time wise. I havn't really had time to go back because when I get home from uni pretty late in the day so it doesn't leave me much time to hit the gym so I thought a bench might be the solution?

Anyway as mentioned in my first para I'm interested in a bench etc and was wondering what your thoughts are? Adding some muscle onto my arms and possibly my chest are my goals but I'm kind of thinking that I'd be best off going back to the gym if I wanted to work my chest and get a 6pack that my hoes will love.

Anyway I'd like to hear your advice!

    Thanks

i would recommend going to a full gym. however, pick the one that you will actually get done. In my experience, most home gyms lie unused and sold at garage sales. it is just too easy to ignore. a gym membership gives you a place where you can focus and not be disturbed.

Yeah that is a good point.

Also would the workout with just dumbells and a bench be adequate?

since all you are looking for is bigger arms and a six-pack, then all the equipment you need would be some running shoes and dumbbells for curls.

    Go to the gym, bro.

You'll outgrow the dumbells in under a month, +1 gym.

I prefer working out at home. I like the freedom it provides & it's easier for me not to blow off working out. If I have to make a special trip to the gym, I can talk myself out of going. But if I have the equipment in my basement, it's harder for me to justify skipping a workout. (I completely realize I'm in the minority here. And when I was young & single, the gym was the way to go.)

At any rate, here's my gym. I know the equipment isn't the best in the world, but it's good enough for a 35 yr. old man.
