I was planning to wait until spring to go bike shopping (this will be my first bike, i'm finished with my MSF next friday) but i just found a 1998 Ducati ST2 with low miles for $3800. Any opinions on these bikes? I KBB'd it and its priced around 1600 below KBB so it sounds like a killer deal and it looks perfect.

What other bikes have you had? STs are sport tourning. If that's what you want/like then yes it's a great bike.

What's the mileage? Print is fair if there's low miles.

This would be my first bike. I was looking at a new kawasaki 650R because a sport bike is what i originally intended to get. I went and looked at the Ducati on my lunch hour and it looks like a perfect compromise between touring comfort and sport looks which would be perfect for me because i plan to take long distance trips with it once i become a more experienced rider. The mileage is 6000 miles so for that price it seems like a great deal

After some research, it looks like a nice choice. Does it have the hard luggage installed?

thats a great reason to get that bike/type of bike... not to mention it shows your willingness to learn and not quiet so squid like... like some other peoples starter bike threads

thanks for the opinions guys but unfortunately i decided to pass on the bike. I really wanted it but i decided to stick to my plan to wait until next spring for financial reasons. It's gonna be a long 6 months wait but hopefully it'll be worth it.

I like the ST2.... since I'd be upgrading though, I'd be more interested in the ST4. They're both supposed to be pretty good bikes.

i dont know shit about bikes but i do know that: ducati is kind of like a ferrari, its just not something you drive (ride) everyday as if it were a civic.
