I'm using dual channel ddr in my system b/c I'm using a 3ghz P4 w/ an 800mhz FSB. The ram is 400mhz, but I was told if you use dual channel it operates at 800mhz. However in bios and everywhere else I check system info it says its 400mhz. How does dual channel work? Is it really running at 400mhz but since it uses dual channel its as if it runs at 800mhz? Do you guys think its beneficial to go with dual channel or should i have just got a single stick of 512 of 400mhz ram?

Yeah that helps somewhat. I guess its not the actuall speed of the ram @ 400mhz but the amount of g/b transfer. transfers twice the amount of information vs a standard 400mhz single 512 stick. Thanks.
