Does dual channel requirement memory require that both pairs of RAM modules be matching pairs (i.e., same manufacturer) or just that they are both of the same size and settings?

    According to Apple,

The reason why I ask is because I just purchased two Kingston Value RAM sticks from Fry's over the recent deal. Both were of the same Value RAM line, but each had differing memory chips. Samsung on one, and Nanya on the other.

I'm wondering if I should be concerned about not having dual channel running. Any way to verify? etc.

    Thanks. :)

What's this dual channel thing - is it kinda like a dual core processor but with the RAM?

Looks interesting :x: also in for answer on what the requirements and how similar the two sticks of ram have to be :x:

no it doesn't matter if they are the same or not. Although having different memory types can cause other problemss. But if it works, and is stable, use it.
