    Ok, dumb question.

Lets say one had a 91 talon tsi to play around with.

How much could you increase the boost on the stock motor/turbo and still have a running/non exploded car?

Are you asking how much boost you can run on a completely bonestock car? 14 I would say. 17 with an aftermarket fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

the stock injectors wont let you go a whole lot more than about 1 bar without precise tuning ... so until you can afford turbo+injectors+chipped eprom .. i would keep it under 14.4 psi

Boost is less important than most people think. Big V8's run negative pressure in the intake just like all non-boosted engines, but they make lots of power because they pull in a large MASS of air and they can match that air with the proper MASS of fuel. Upping the boost pressure on your car is just a means to increase the mass of the air being taken in.

    Yes it does.

The sentences he wrote are correct.

However, the entire paragraph together contradicts itself, and really doesn't make sense.

And the smaller the engine, the more boost plays a role in large HP numbers.

it also means you have to increase more fuel. you then have more combustibles and more working medium(the 70ish percent of air that isn't Oxygen) that equates to more power. Give more than just half of the story, unless you only know that half. which it seems that you do.
