DSM. Cheap, awsome motor out of the factory, and easy to make and put down decent power.

I am not a big fan of DSMs due to the problems my friend Kim has with her GSX, but I guess that is a general statement because 1g DSM>*all... So.. There is your answer. I'd rather have a 1g awd than anything, but otherwise i'd pick the 240, although I tend to avoid any bandwagon or trend. Not to say that I dont EVER, but I just don't like doing things at the same time as the masses.

I'd have to go with the 240, best blend of looks and turnability. I think it also depends on what your goal is, auto-x, show car .etc...

Why do everyone address the DSM's reliability issues when its actually the owners who neglects the normal maintanence of the of the car? If you keep your car up to date with oil changes and DON'T add stupid shit to it that you don't know what your doing than it won't break down. I can say that anything that ever happened to my DSM was purely my fault or the previous owner's fault.

    Besides for that,

    dsm for performance
    240 for auto-x
    mr2 for show

I'd say 240, sure I'm a little biased, but those are all good choices
Besides the fun factor of the RWD layout, the 240 has a little extra room in the back if you need it
Turbo'd and it gets even better (KA or SR)

S13 and follow the band wagon,
there is a reason every 1 has it,
light weight, good potential for engine and mods
    cheap

An MR2 turbo is THE best pure sports car for the buck, hands down.

It is just hard to work on, and parts are harder to find. But it is much more rare, has a very strong motor, has a very hot styled body, and handles GREAT while being very quick stock.

DSM's are unreliable, and the 240 requires too much work to become fast, and everyone has one nowadays.

That's funny, cause on SupraForums, I read of a few Supra's the crankwalked...

OMG, no one buy one!!!!

Almost any angine can crankwalk, and since '98 your post is the first I've ever heard about the 3SGTE walking, so I'm going to throw that on the same shelf as the Supra cases: Too seldom to worry about.

The MR2 3SGTE does not have a problem with crankwalk like the 4G63 DSM engines. Sure just like any other engine it *can* crankwalk but its highly unlikley. The way I see it I would take a MR2 hands down: Awesome 1/4 mile potential due to factory turbo and mid engine design= awd capable 60ft's plus you dont have the awd drag once your underway. Awesome autocrosser NA, or stock ct26 or ct20b turbos, And Im pretty partial to the classic lines of the MR2 and the interior is hot to boot so show is not a problem either. Next I would choose a S13 or (S14 97-98) 240sx with the redtop swap since its quite a bargan. DSM's are good for straight line, but Id choose a MR2 and 240 over one in a second when it comes to autocrossing, track racing, mountain/canyon roads.

Oh jesus. Yeah I take a shitty Nissan to the track rather than a Mid-Engined, sportster.... :ugh: As for performance.... a DSM and MR2 are just about equal... you can cut launches like in AWD car in the MR2... Yes, I own an MR2
