Future shopping cart to be exact.

    -Nikon D50 with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED Lens
    -50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor
    -55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor

I would like a longer zoom, but dont want to put too much money into it for VR.

    One command wheel = lose.

Takes SD cards while all the rest of the Nikon DSLRs use compact flash. That SD doesn't work in any of the other cameras without an adapter. There is no CF-> SD adapter simply because of size.

d70s is going to be a bit less expensive than the current d70 right? so when it comes out i would expect d70 prices to fall

Well, I can kinda get them at a bit of a discount. But for some reason I cant get the D70 because they arent making them anymore? Someone correct me on that.

But yea, 1 dial sucks. But the replacement for that 2nd dial is a simple push of a button and the dial. Isnt too complicated. And I am not so much concerned about using SD just because the other camera I have takes a freaking Smart Media card

I probably should wait and see about the reviews on the two new lenses.

They're getting ready to replace the D70 with the D70s, which has a bigger LCD.

I am afraid I wont be able to take advantage of the 300mm without a tripod. I dont want to lug that around. :hs:

with that size aperture, you're going to want to stop down -- you'll generally be using a lens like that during the daytime

What do you mean by stop down?

I was using my friends 80-400, and at 300mm with the VR off, the pics were really blurry even during the day time.

    Use a high shutter speed.

1/500 or faster is not a bad idea.

just get the D70 and teh kit lens, shoot with it and when/IF you decide you need another lens, get one then that fits your needs

and just FYI you can shoot the 70-300 at 300mm 1/60s wideopen handheld and get sharp photos

A variety of things. Mostly going to be outside shooting people. Not any sports or events. Just people doing their thing on the streets. Eventually I want to put together a bunch of pics that represent Oakland through my eyes. I wanted the zoom because I dont want to be too close to people at times...like in the most ghetto parts. ANd I wanted the 1.8 because I wanted to do a lot of indoor shots also. And the kit...well, it is a good all around lens for me.

I am skipping the D50 and getting the D70 now. I dont know whether I should wait for the D70s to come out to get the D70 cheaper.

:squint: Youre making things harder than it should be :p

I guess it will depend on the price difference between the two. Will the D70s come with an infared remote? IIRC, its only $17 for a basic remote. :hsd:
