Quick question, are all 350d cameras created equally? Were there any changes throughout it's life? I only ask because I am looking to buy one, and am leaning towards a used version. I just want to make sure I'm not going to regret buying a new one instead.

    Thanks

Save up and get a used 20D for $800-900. You'll thank us later. I bought a used 10D as a back up and now it's my primary. The 350D is the back up lol.

it's not a matter of saving up, I have the toy money to cover that. I'm no where near being a professional here, I'm just tired of point&shoot cameras. My dad uses an old Canon 35mm, and is good at it. I figure this will just be a hobby we'll have in common. Is the cost of a 20D really worth it :dunno:

The 350D is small, making it light but it's not very comfortable to hold for long periods. The extra width on the 10D/20D/30D > 300D/350D.

The grip only gives you more area downward; the 350D is lacking in width.

    Get a used 20D. I had a 300D for 2 months.. sold it. Bought myself a brand new 20D for $970 shipped.

Guess I need to head into a camera shop so I can actually hold both of these together. I found a 20D for $825 (body only), and a 350D + lens kit for $500...

    Don't listen to that.
I have a 350D (with a grip), and really big hands, and I have no problems with that camera's size.
What I'm trying to say is, go to a store, handle it for a few minutes, and see for yourself.

Great, to make this even harder to decide, Dell has a new coupon out on the 350D...After all coupons & rebates, $584 (body + kit).

You'll buy the 350D and probably end up regretting it.

Jump on that. Then if the size really bothers you, pick up a batter grip for like $150 by Canon, or a third party one for like $75.

looks like the deal already expired :wtc: Must have been extremely limited since the deal only started this morning. I might run up to Portland to look at one for sale @ $500. I'm heading to the shutterbug after work to feel these cameras out.

Hmm...so I go into the local camera shop, and they had no 20D. The guy there told me it was discontinued for the new 30D. I'm hoping this means that shortly there will be a lot of used 20Ds on the market :x:

considering the 30d is a really marginal upgrade from the 20d I dont think that many are going to upgrade..but at least thats part of the reason why the price is going down

:squint: That's not what I want to be hearing. I guess I'll just sit on the money for a while to see if any great deals come along. I might try a few more camera shops to see if I can find 1 with a 20D in stock to play with. Is the 30D the same size as the 20D? I'm just wondering if I could get a feel for the 20D with the help of a 30D :dunno:

best way to describe the 30d would be as a 20ds its just a minor upgrade so physically its almost identical
