    Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens
Sandisk 2gb Extreme III sd card

Nikon HR-2 Lens Hood (for the 50mm lens)
Nikon HB-33 Lens Hood (for the kit lens)
Giottos 2" lcd screen protector 3-pack
    Bogen/Manfrotto 725B Ballhead Tripod w/ Quick Release

    Total Price w/ Shipping: $979.05

What do you guys think? I hope you like my choices, they're basically a giant combination of the advice given to me in the other thread. Thank you so much for all of the help!!!!

I'm going to get a camera bag/backpack for my shit, but I want to check them out in person first, so I held off on that.

Also, my next purchase is going to be an SB-600, but B&H were out of them so I'll hold off for a bit until they're back in stock.

    Sweet!

I think I'm going to go with the opposite of your decision. I'm going with the XTi w/kit lens, 50mm f1.8 and a 2gb card to start off with. I figure I'll get better lenses after I get used to the camera but I want the 50mm f1.8 for low light (it's only $75 anyway).

Let us know how you like your new toys and post up some pics.

Very good starter setup! If you are going to be doing a bunch of continuous shooting, I'd get a spare battery too.

When you get the SB-600 go down to Wal-Mart and pick up 8 Energizer rechargeable 2500 MAH batteries and a charger.

  16. Nice, but I would have gone with the 18-70mm lens.

Exactly which Hoya CP did you buy? I was recently shopping at B&H (the actual store) over christmas for a CP. They wanted roughly $150 for the Hoya pro1 CP...

I just got mine in the mail from Hong Kong today for $73 shipped. It's brand new and works great.

So my question is how much did you pay for your filter and exactly which one is it?

    calm down frank.

    1) All Nikon/Canon are roughly the same per price point
    2) Canon/Nikon is the most common and useless debate, deal with it
    3) Guns dont kill people, people kill people. -Camera is irrelevant if you cant take a photo.

Great setup there -- you'll love it. The 50mm can teach you to become a really good photographer.

Good find, but what difference does it make now? He's getting the stuff he wants.

No. In most cases, you really won't tell a difference. You'll probably notice the faults of the 18-55mm lens before even worrying about the cp on the 50mm.
