The DSL will only connect downstairs to the jack in the kitchen, it has a wall-mount filter. If I move it to any other phone jack in the house, and use the in-line filters, it doesn't work. Any ideas why? Or do I need to call BellSouth?

Well, it worked the last time I was home. Every jack in the house should work anyway. I don't think they came to change anything but I'll have to ask my dad tomorrow.

You're not using the filters on the DSL modem line, are you?
The filters go on the lines attached to the phone, not on the lines with the DSL modem attached.

    try it without the filter
also if you call bellsouth they will ask you to try another jack, which you've already done and prolly test for sync at the nid

I tried filters in every jack in the house, and tried it without filters. The only one it works on is the wall-mounted filter in the kitchen which I'm on now.

If I remember correctly from when we had our DSL installed, DSL needs the newer 3-wire phone line (or something like this) rather than the older 2-wire line, so maybe they only ran the newer line to the one jack... Someone must know more about this than me, so if anyone can correct me please do ;)

Well, that is irrelevant, since it worked in every room the last time I was home, and worked in my bedroom where they'd been using it within the past 2 weeks.
