Alrite so I have been taking digital pictures for a while, but all for my entertainment.. nothing at all professional. But I want to take different pictures and I always try and improve on my pictures.

My main question is how do you change the shutter speed on this camera? I really have no clue. i bought the camera used so i didn't get a manual. i tried to play around with the setting but to no success!

I just wanted to take a picture of cars streaking by with the lights trailing! I really would like to take a picture like that! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks people!! :)

There is a letter "S" on your circular control knob. Then use the horizontal rotary knob to change the shutter speed.

Is the rotary knob the piece next to the button which takes the picture?

Read the manual! :slap: It's really not that difficult. It's been a while since I had my 707 (nearly identical to the 717) so I can't remember which dial is used to change the shutter speed. You do have to be in "S" mode though.

Borrowing a pic from the main page for example purposes only.

you turn the main dial to S, then use that black rotary dial next to the shutter release to change it.
