i was reading about the acekard2 and thinking i might go with that.
looks nice. acekard looks alot cheaper though. what's the difference?
ive been reading about this same thing.
apparently people use the Acekard 2i with the DSi, and use an unofficial loader software called AKAIO because it's better than the AK's official stuff.
i also just learned that the DSi's flash carts can't take advantage of the DSi's better hardware & SD slot because they present themselves as DS games, so the DSi goes into DS compatability mode and shuts off that hardware. could be wrong, but interesting nonetheless.
side note, don't order from DealExtreme. they're out of stock on everything but won't tell you. I just ordered from gamebygame; it's located in California and they have stuff in stock.
cool. yea i dont have a DSi, just the DS lite. what did you order?
love my cyclo, wouldnt want any other flash cart
I got the AK2ki after doing a lot of reading about peoples reactions to the AKAIO software on gbatemp.net
i got an edge ds for mine works great
well at least the girlfriend loves it. i dont play with it often
I use CycloDS Evolution, simple/easy, cheap, and good quality. Highly reccomended
i use R4 and Acekard
r4 has good reviews though i dont know if i have to buy something in addition to the r4. i'm thinking about picking up two of them, one for each of the kids, unless i only need 1 and 2 memory sticks?
any forums for dummies out there?
brother, it's not rocket science.
DSi = AceKard 2i SDHC. If your DS firmware is already at version 1.4, make sure the AK2i is pre-flashed with the newest update.
DS Lite = R4 SDHC, or AceKard as far as i know.
if you're just looking to run "homebrew" there is no appreciable difference between the cards. if you want to make this more complicated for yourself, you can start to read GBATemp.net (13 year olds, but that's where all this gets discussed) and there's a wiki page out there that will go into detail about compatability differences.
cool, i'll check it out. i'm not really looking for homebrew so much as i am running backup games.
my oldest son has 11ty games and constantly is misplacing them. i could backup all of those so he won't lose them and also make a copy of them to put on my 5 y/o's ds.
THen i'll sell the physical games on craigslist to pay for the flash/slot1/etc.
