So I'm working on a new site that's basically going to be a resource for web designers/masters with shit like scripts, photoshop brushes, tutorials, cheat sheets, etc. I want to also have a blog built in so I can write about design shit I find. I'm fairly familiar with WP and it seems like it could fit the needs of this project but I keep hearing how Drupal is more powerful. I'm a Drupal noob so can somebody explain to me/tell me if Drupal would be better for this over WordPress?

If you're already familiar with WordPress and can accomplish this job using WordPress, then stick with WordPress. There's a steep learning curve with Drupal, and although it is much more powerful, it'll probably take you longer to launch your site with Drupal due to it's complexity and learning curve.

However, if the project doesn't have a strict deadline and would allow time for the learning curve, then I would urge you to use Drupal due to the learning experience and you'd be familiarizing yourself with several aspects of a superior CMS. In future cases, this would benefit you greatly when you have future projects around these needs.

 Thanks broly, just a personal side-project so no real deadline. Any recommendations of where I should start with Drupal?

Kingtoad gave you the explanation, all I said was drupal. Yes I read your post, I also read kingtoads so there was no need to input when he had already said what I would have said.

I've been using WP for awhile now and have had good results with it. But I'm afraid that if I start with Drupal, it'll negate all of the time I've put into WP. :wtc:

Nah. WordPress is a powerful and easy to use software. It'll always have it's place and it's perfect for the end user.

I ride Drupal a lot, but I still create and operate WordPress blogs.
