I have a site, I know I want to redo. I have the ability to do it from scratch but maybe not the time. Plus, how many times do you have to build from scratch just because you CAN?

(I know i am gonna regret starting this fight, like cubs-sox or bush vs. well anyone really)
That said, I have been looking into Joomla and Drupal maybe phpNuke.

    Any thoughts, advice, pros-cons?

The site could be something big, but currently, basically it is an inflated blog, news stories, cool websites, ramblings, etc.

for what it is right now, I'd just use wordpress. Very simple to use, easy to do SEO, tons of plugins, etc..

I can't use pre-built shit. I guess you could say I'm a control freak and want to do everything from scratch (well, I re-use stuff I wrote in the past).

If something goes wrong, I want to know what it is. All experiences I've had with template type software have been really bad.

well just because you use wordpress, doesnt mean it HAS to be a blog. adapt it and change it to what you need it for.

I'm gonna say Drupal. :hs: Just implemented a site using Drupal for the first time. Needless to say, I'll be using Drupal in most of my future developments.

If you're doing really simple site either one will do ok.

If you're going after big project you have to go with custom back end 99% of the time.
