    I made a new "page" but Drupal only shows part of it and makes the viewer click "read more" to see the whole thing.. and I don't see ANY option ANYWHERE to show the full story on the story listing/"page"

    is there really not an option for that? wordpress had it built in and it was really easy to find. I've looked around for modules for this and haven't found any. what gives?

    Several ways for this to be done, depending on what you exactly want out of Drupal.

    1. Adjust the teaser length by going here: Administer -> Post Settings
    2. Upgrade to the latest version of Drupal, which has a "Split at Summary" option and you can force an optional teaser or not.
    3. <!-- break -->
    4. Set a specified node as the default front page in Drupal.

    Not recommended.

    This would force you to modify the core of Drupal, which isn't necessary since the options are available, and not recommended. Drupal is completely customizable and you should be able to accomplish almost anything without modifying the core.

    <!-- break --> didn't work for me :dunno:

    I adjusted the post length before a teaser is created to infinity, so when I want a summary I'll just do it manually with the Split at Summary option. :bigthumb:

    thanks

    Actually, if I recall, <!-- break --> will only work with the breakmodule installed.

    And no problem.

    what modules are your favorites for drupal 6.x? which would you recommend? there are a ton available for download and since I don't have all of the terminology down yet.. the descriptions are never enough for me to understand exactly what they do :o

    Really depends on the site I'm building and if they require any additional features. I usually hit up the module list and if the module isn't available I'll try to write my own. So, I haven't spent much time in the module section. Aside from some of the core modules (I actually use a lot of the default ones) the ones I require outside of the modules provided are the ones that assist SEO. Pathauto and Page title are two I use for every Drupal project I've worked on.
