    Hey all,

I work with my brother. We work different shifts but they overlap for 1 hour. My bro always had a drug problem, we tried everything to get him to stop, however he comes to work high. And when he does, people ask me questions. I honestly dont want to say anything, but for most part we are like one big family at work. People know each other... I have told him multiple times to stop doing that but he wont listen and says that no one knows. Some of his buddies know, as he told em. I'm drug free but people have strange ways and most of the time assume that Im a crackhead too becasue of his actions. How do I deal with this, and what do I tell people at work?? I dont want to lie, but I have to, and I have good things going for me and dont want to pay for his mistakes. :wtc:

If you are sure he's on crack...?
You know, I've been around a bit. I've never known crackheads to show up for work consistently.
I'd have to say, whatever he might be on, give him enough rope he'll hang himself.
Consider that people have a tendency to shoot the messenger.
Try to step in and help, not harass, only after he really starts to fuck up, & burn his bridges.

You are NOT responsible for what your brother does.
    Make that known.
The whole drug issue is HIS problem.

Yeah, but she asked, what she'd tell other people when they ask question.. And yes, he's her brother, so I can understand that she cares.

I would tell them, that it's not their problem.

THnx. I tell peepz to go talk to him if they feel there is something wrong with him, however I feel really ackward doing that cuz in general theya re great people.

Yeah he comes to work late and sometimes calls out when hes too stoned to come in. And I believe its more than crack too, as people have told me and random paraphenelia I tend to find. :(

    BTW I'm a male :)

    heya Patrick!! :wavey:

    hows it going mate??

still dealing with your brothers shit, hey, mate??

man ... how did you get caught back in this bubble?? :noes:

the best thing in the long run, and short run, is to tell people the truth: your brother has a problem with drugs, and you are currently seeking help!!

just curious, but do you think he is using it to compensate for something?? :mamoru:

maybe a lack of relationships?? self-esteem?? common sense?? :o

maybe you should take him in for a tour starting with NA, and going through hospitals with people who have overdosed with drugs ... maybe even a drug rehabilitation clinic??

at least that way he will get to choose his own fate ...

maybe you can drive him somewhere one day, say you are going where you both need to go, and then pull the strings a bit, and take him to these places?? get him to face up to the truth??

he is your brother, and he will know that you love him, but you need to get the truth through to him!! cos he obviously isn't seeing it!!

anyways, Patrick, old son!! I hope this post gives you some food for thought, and inspires you to action!!

    keep it real, brother!! :)

    Eh?
Find your brother while he's sober one day (if you can) and tell him that people have been asking about his behaviour at work. Tell him that they're asking about his drug use. Tell him also that you're not going to cover for him and that if you're asked, you'll have to tell the truth, and that it's because his reputation is tarnishing yours.

While I doubt this will stop his habits, it will take the stress off of you. Don't look at it as a weakness; it's a message that his behaviour is not acceptable. If it gets him fired, that's not your problem. Tough love.

    Hey Shale :)

Its going quite well actually. Family shit and my dad situation is solved. Job thing is solved (patched up), lady situation is going more than perfect, just this thing.
Hmm I think my family has a problem with addiction, and that has been getting me down. As mentioned earlier dad is almost gone out of the picture (he needs to move out within 2 months). I think that might be the root of the problem. My house was filled with so much negative energy that I just couldnt help it and be drowned down with it. Luckily for me, Im pretty laid back and dont do anything crazy. I think I still have chances to be successful ;)

That would be a correct thing to do, I think. But if he looses the job the whole family will be on my back. That kid wont move a finger in his life, and only got this job because someone decided to help. I did talk to him about it, and he told me he tries to be clean now, but sometimes is so sick that he has to. I'm not quite sure how that works...
Im not quite sure this is correct but my theary is as fallows: My bro was always one of those people that got impressed by stupid shit that other people did. My moms knew that and spoiled the shit out of him "so he doesnt hang with the wrong crowd and do drugs" and thats exactly what happened. Just the wrong crowd, and when you are surrounded by people liek that its hard to leave. I'm not making any excuses for him, cuz I know people have an option...
Actually he was in a live-in clinic in florida and finished their program, but that didnt help jack shit as within a month he was back in CT with the same friends and same problem.

Im a firm believer that you dont need an occasion or purpose to choose your fate, you do it every second of your life :dunno:
Im not sure what you mean. BUt if you mean show him the ghetto, and all teh crackheads... well he sees it every other day when he goes to get his supplies. If you mean I should talk to him about it... I do talk to him about his addiction all the time. I know he respects me and looks up to me even though Im 3 years younger... sometimes I think hes jeloaus of the way Im dealing with this whole bullshit and leading my life. Its like he gave up cuz life got a bit up the hill. And I tell him to stop and think, but then he still continues the way hes going. I would be more than glad to have him hang with me, but he finds my friends boring. He doesnt want to watch TV and drink booz, go out to restaurants, play golf, go kayaking. :dunno:

If I could open his cranium somehow and pour my thoughts in I would do it in a heart beat, but all I can do is talk to him, I dunno what else would work.

    Thanks Shale :)

I guess next time if it happens thats how Im gonna do it. Thnx

    Exactamundo :)
