Does the Natl Guard drug test?

I'm assuming that when you apply (likely as an officer, as this will be about 5 years from now, after I've finished college and get off probation), you'd be tested at that time, but what about random tests?

Was thinking about going in as a 15M (UH-1 Helicopter Repairer).
Can you be an officer for this type of MOS, or are they more enlisted positions?

I know for a fact with the Natl Guard you don't need a full bachelor's degree to apply as an officer. I think what is required is about 60 credits.

Not necessarily. If you have an associates, you can still apply if you can prove that you are on your way to getting a bachelors.

Yes you will get drug tested, yes it is random and sometimes frequent depending on unit. That MOS does not apply to officers. Read the stickies.

So if the MOS doesn't apply to officers, there's no way you can request it? Or go in as enlisted instead? Even if you have a bachelors?

I really wanna do something with Hueys, and I figure being a mechanic would be better to learn how they work and how to fix them, than being a pilot.

I figure flying them them would be easier to learn on my own than learning how to fix them on my own.

You can choose to go enlisted even with a bachelor's. You'll automatically come in as an E-4 (specialist) instead of a private because of your education. Plus enlistments usually have bonuses associated with them as well as the fact you choose your MOS (provided you qualify for it)

    It's definitely something to consider.

Why do all the drug users want to fly or repair helicopters? Go choose a MOS that isn't going to directly put me at risk.

No, are you having reading comprehension issues?
I simply said that having the army teach me how to repair the UH-1 would be smarter than going in as a pilot.

I can figure out how to fly em on my own, but teaching myself how to work on them and perform maintenance isn't going to work.

:ugh2: Big difference. The government said they were ok. :ugh: And the government knows best.

Uhhh other way around fixing them is easy ... Flying them is hard thats why enlisted fix them O's fly them.

So you plan on teaching yourself how to fly them?? Like thats going to be easy??
What are you on probation for??
This whole convo doesn't matter cause you will not be an O because you have a record so go grab a wrench and learn to turn.

I cant believe people think becoming an officer is easy and with a criminal conviction or drug use you can walk right into the military and be an officer.. :ugh2: Its not easy at all and with a shitty economy its very hard to get in
