anyone know of any sites about v8 powered 240s? I think I once saw something about putting one in and it seemed simple enough.

    one time i saw a v8 powered mr2.

im sure anyone who can specialize in 240 engine swapping (which is done quite often as it is) should be able to tell u about putting in a large engine such as a v8.

What kind of V8? A guy in Australia got a VH41DE in his S13 Silvia. Someone in my area put an LT1 into his S14.

unless its a small block, it would be worthless if you actually like to turn your wheels. The big weight would kill the balance of the car.

do a search on freshalloy.com/forums for ls1. Its one hell of a swap. If you have fabrication skills you can do it for hella cheap. I spent 5k on my sr swap and i did all the labor except the wiring..... and have less hp at the wheels than a stock ls1..... (fmic, bc, turbo back exhaust)

Trust me.. Im a mechanical engineer major and for $/power the ls1 actually freakin :Ownedd: the SR

What are you're plans for the car, high hp? I would stick with the SR.

lime creek motorsports in houston built an lt1 s14 that hauls major ass. i have also seen a carbureted blue and yellow s14 up at hrp a couple of times. the overall fit left more room than you would expect. both of the cars that i have seen ran automatics, as i'm sure getting the clutch setup would be a total bitch

the sr20 has so much potential... why ditch it for something that will be so front-heavy???

i've seen fd's with ls1 swaps before. its actually a pretty lightweight engine for its size, and in the fd chassis at least sat far enough back in the engine bay to keep the balance you'd want.

if you can find the right engine, and the right know how, i think it'd be pretty cool, but i wonder if it would be worth it in the end?

The LS1 is lighter than you would think. Block and heads are all aluminum. It's probably heavier than an SR20 with turbo and piping, etc. but not much heavier. Moving the battery to the trunk helps a lot too.

I recall seeing a SBC-powered S13 once, it seemed like a tight fit, but of course anything can be done with enough time and money!
