tomorrow i'm gonna be doing drop sets in my routine for the first time. when doing drop sets, do you start the first set with the same weight as you would if you were doing regular sets?

typically, when first starting drop sets, what advice can you give me as to relatively how much weight to start with, and how much to drop each time. you're dealing with a drop set noob here.

It's not complicated. Chose a weight, rep to failure, remove some weight, rep to failure again.

Drop set I did today on leg curls

    100 x 10
    100 x 8
    100 x 6, 70 x 9

on the last set i tried to get a seventh rep but couldn't (failure), lowered the weight and did as many as i could

I don't know if a consensus came about the last time this was discussed but Timber brought up an article that discouraged drop sets.

Reason being that your CNS "remembers" the last weight that you did, so by lowering the weight you can potentially reduce strength.

I usually go by a set number of reps. So 8, 8, 8, 8 or w/e. Decreasing weight each time.

    Ask Timber :dunno:

I just remember that he was the one who posted it originally and I've read it multiple places (CNS adaptation to lower resistance) :dunno:

I think it was an article about going to failure and the CNS.

    Shut the fuck up :ugh:

Notice how I worded what I said, I prefaced it with "I don't know" and "someone else said"? I wasn't claiming it as fact, I was prompting further discussion of the subject.

I'm in for timber too, it was quite a while ago but he posted it (the article or personal hearsay).

    I said:

    "I don't know"

    and

    "Timber posted something"

If it's not true, awesome, if it is, also awesome. I didn't state it as fact, it was stated in order to make further progress in the discussion.
