accoring to what the install sheild site tells me, my problem might be that my error may be because the setup is running from a virtual drive created via the 'subst' command.

so how in the bee-jeesus do i find out if i have an virtual drives created via the "subst" command? and how can i correct it so that windows installer doesnt run from said drive?

Go to a command prompt and just type subst. That will list any subst'ed drives and what path is associated with that drive letter.
