Mine is about to expire. I heard that active military members dont need to get a new one until they separate. Is there any truth in this?

Minnesota does not require active duty stationed outside the state to renew the license until the person is off active duty. The only thing I had to do was send in a letter to the DMV stating that I was active duty and to keep my driving records, I also included a proof of service letter just in case. :)

As it's already been stated some states do not require you to renew your license if you are active duty. You will need to do the legwork there's a few sites out there that have a database for quick reference that can help you. When you do find the information be sure to print out the statute that explains why you have an expired license when you get pulled over.

Hmm I didn't know about those rules.

...but what's so hard about gettin' a new one? The Cali DMV mailed me the form, but I didn't even need to fill it out, I was able to do it all online, FTW. Took like 5 minutes.

    Ruh Roh!

I just found out that somehow I dropped from a step 20 to a step 8 in the matter of like a month. The lowest you can get is 9.
I think they dropped me since my thing expired! :eek4:
