I need something comfortable but looks good. Basic black (I don't to cordovan), not as formal as a cap toe or wingtip. I am on my feet for 5-8 hours straight.

I have tried ecco's and they feel comfortable in the store, but if anyone can point me towards something similar for less I'd appreciate it.

Allen Edmond - Park Avenues are a safe bet and you can wear them all day long

Check out Alden if you're up for spending $100 more

Seconded about the Allen Edmonds. You can find them marked down at Nordstroms Rack and even Marshalls for around 100 bucks usually, and they are amazing shoes.

I just picked up a pair of brandy colored Drydens last week.

Clarks of England makes some pretty comfortable/price conscious shoes.

I don't ever think I've seen AEs at Nordstrom Rack for <100. I have seen a pair of AEs at marshalls, but they were ugly as shit.

I'd expect to drop at least 180 on a decent pair of AEs.

Not quite... I love their shoes, but they don't hold up as well as you'd think (from personal experience).
