    I'm working on a new website for my job, but unfortunately i have no photoshop or dreamweaver experience. I have enough downtime where i'm putzing through tutorials and videos on my own at work, but sometimes I have a question i cant find an answer to.

    I was wondering if anyone has aim and wouldn't mind if I bugged them occasionally about a question I can't find an answer too.

    THanks in advance, if anyone is willing.

    My advice is to jump in and experiment

    try writting an entire php site in notepad, now that's confusing.

    And i know there are plenty of elitist out there that are going to give me "LEARN HTML NOOB" and such, but i'm not making a career out of this.

    I just want to build a small website with some pictures and contact info, etc that will look professional.

    I've been doing that, and getting frustrated not being able to do one small task.

    The one that's annoying me the most seems like it should be so simple...and i'm sure it is, but ican't find an answer.

    How do I do multi colored backgrounds? For instance, if I want a blue vertical pillar on the left, a thinner horizontal one on the top, and a dark tan color everyone else, how do I do that?

    do i do it internally in dreamweaver, or import an image and layer it (if possible?)

    I have no clue

    well there are a lot of ways but the way i would do it is setup a table

    try this

    Code:
    <table>
    <tr>
    <th colspan="2" style="background-color: #ff0000; height: 50px;">
    </th>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td style="background-color: #00ff00; width: 100px;">
    </td>
    <td style="background-color: #0000ff; width: 100%;">
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    just change the colors around

    Im not getting paid for this...I get paid to fix computers and maintain networks.

    This is something i want to learn on the side, either to make me a more valuble employee or for a chance at a little money on the side.

    and I didnt have a chance to mess with it today, customers out the ass after 2pm
