    Here's the rundown:

    I'm currently deployed and don't like APO's.
Downloaded DA:O Collector's Edition through EA's Download Manager.
Two days of downloading 8gigs through shitty ass wireless.
Run the installer, click Custom Install to choose my own directory.
HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE BRO - "The install folder specified is in or is a folder reserved for special files."
Ok... I click Express Install instead. Same thing.
Turn of Vista's UAC and run as Administrator. Same thing.
Enable the actual Admin account through prompt and run it again. Same thing.

No matter what directory or folder I point the installer to, it won't let me install it - Even as the admin of the computer. :ugh:

At this point I'm all out of fucking ideas. I've checked the Bioware forums - Two small threads about people getting the error, no fix. I created a new post which no one responded to. EA recommended that I double check the requirements for DA:O and redownload the whole installation file (Which I did, 30% left) and it seems I have little chance to get a refund since it was downloaded.

I've never had a problem like this before with any game on Vista 64bit and it's seriously starting to piss me off. A few other guys here have it running on Vista 32bit and on Xbox...

Anyone have any ideas or am I just fucked out of $65? :hsd:

    I found the fail part:
Downloaded DA:O Collector's Edition through EA's Download Manager.

    Steam > *

Dunno if that's the exact problem but I've heard of no one have a problem dling and installing over steam.

It is a legit copy from EA's website and Steam is blocked by my base's firewall. :wtc:

Damn, I'd feel more secure pirating it than using EA. Good luck man that sucks.

Contact EA and tell them what's up.

Or go to a PX/BX and get a copy.

Already tried talking to Comm about unblocking Steam - no luck and the BX here blows... it still has PS2 and Xbox games for $30+. Will probably end up bitching to EA about getting my money back and ordering from Newegg.

Yeah. I bought torchlight last night because I had been playing it for 12 hours straight 2 nights ago.

Is there some other folder you can move the install files to? Like if you are starting them from the c:\Downloads folder vs c:\poopcockeabullshit\gayshit\ea\.

Low harddrive space? Registry locked somehow? Passworded folders? Obviously you've looked through a lot of shit this is just what I thought of.

    Come again?

Am I going mad, or have two posts in GP just confused the fuck out of me in the space of 5 minutes.

You can't move files that have been installed already because of the registry, no.

Can you install a pirated version and get EA installer to recognise it as the game youve bought ?

I'm not a PC gamer anymore so might be talking out my ass

The easiest thing would be to backup the saved game, uninstall and reinstall, copy saved game back.

wtf were you on about in the bit i bolded tibbar?

You bolded the part where I was saying "you've probably tried this so good luck", is that what you meant to bold?
