I know someoens ip address. i know the command (net send (ip) (message). but for some reason it wont work, it give me an error. i know the person doesnt have xp (so no firewall), i know they are not using any software firewall programs, and i know they dont have a router. Is my XP firewall the problem as to why I can't send them out, or what?

it could be the messenger service is shutdown on the remote box. Also if you are doing this outside the LAN, it probably wont work becuase the most ISP's will block these messages. You also need the port 135 open to get this to work correctly... :)

Only NT based OS's have Messenger - W2K, XP and NT. The others can use it, but not by default.

As was stated earlier, if this is not on a local network it will NOT work.
