No matter what settings I run it at, as soon as I start a new game it will load and then just crash to the desktop. I have a P4 3.0Ghz HT, 1G Corsair DDR, and a 128MB 9800 Pro. So my system is good enough to run it, but no matter what it still does it, and yes this is a legit copy.

I'm using onboard sound with my Asus mobo, my drivers for my 9800 are the stock drivers that came on the install disc, my directx is up to date.

I haven't tried re-installing it, and I hadn't downloaded the latest patches either, I'll give all of the above a shot, thanks.

I've been wanting to sense I built it, is it a pretty fool-proof process, I really don't want to screw anything up.

What drivers should I download? Just stick with the newest Catalyst drivers from ATI's website?

Installed the newest drivers from ATI's website and it fixed the problem. What is everyone running Doom 3 at with 9800 Pro's? Right now mine is set on medium at 1024x768 with AA x2. It looks alright but you can notice a small amount of lag too.
