You feel that you've hit a wall in training, you're progressing nowhere, and getting tapped out left and right people you used to man handle.

I'm that stage again when things in the gym simply suck and is frustrating.

oh well...back to the gym then. :o

everyone hits a plateau here and there. you just have to either take a little break and regroup or work through it. :hs:

I hate when I pull guard, bounce my head off the mat, and spend 45 seconds on my back with the tightest closed guard I can pull off just so I can get my head to stop spinning before I even think of trying to attack.

i've been there for the past few months, i think i'm finally breaking through the barrier. Just takes time and dedication. BJJ black belts (or any other color) don't come easy for a reason.

I'm focusing on cardio and just simply rolling whenever I can, then when school ends I'm going to focus on techniques and drills until NAGA in june.

Self reflection really helps me sometimes. After a frustrating training session ill sit in my car or in the locker room and think of all the specific places i was stuck in or lost in and then spend the next open mat session drilling those positions with a new outlook.

This is why people's bjj games start to develop... your opponents in the gym all caught onto your tricks and know what to do to counter. Time to learn some more shit

I disagree, practise the basics more. Its never enough

I do the same basic passes every damn day, its just a simple knee through pass but i nail it a lot of the time.

Instead of learning new moves you should be tightening your bread and butter game instead

totally agree, i phrased it kinda shitty. i dont mean go out and learn some flying gogoplata's... and like "well, this move doesn't work anymore, time to abandon it" i mean learn more about it. why are they catching you? why won't certain sweeps, etc work? You know what I mean.

i was just lazy and tried to sum it all up in the word "shit" :o

Just go out there and find out how to stay tighter when passing, etc. How to do what you do, but just better. That's how you evolve.

Not really. I've been trying more new shit lately which is kinda off my usual game. Been starting to play open guard (as suggested by one of my coaches), and opened up a new can of worms.
