at the range you are assigned a port next to someone with a loud ass muzzle braked rifle? :madfawk:

The whole range was full so I got a port next to this dude with an ar-15... that .223 blast was redirected right in my face. Plus his retarded cardboard "shield" he put up did crap.. all his casings flew over and hit me in the head too.

I mean normaly I don't mind but it really ruined my shooting experience until he left.

oh and don't say I'm being a girlie man either, the range officer next to me was complaining too.

oh well....sometimes it happens. My buddy has a Rem700 chambered in 308 with a break....now thats loud.

Doesn't your range have (re)movable screens to protect against brass?

some ports have em some don't.. its an NRA member run range. I couldn't really be picky about the ports either since there was only one open.

That just makes my experience better. I like the feeling of the blast in my face while I'm shooting. Anyway, at my range, we just run everything ourselves. No range officers.

I've had similer experiences, when I was sighting in my yugo, the guy next to me was shooting a semi-auto 12 ga, and they all landed right between my eye and the rear sight.

I just don't bother shooting til those guys leave, to me its just not worth it. I heard a .308 blow like a freakin 50 beowulf this afternoon and I just couldn't put up with it. But then again I'm really bitchy when it comes to gun related noise which could be the reason I shoot everything suppressed.

I wear my ear muffs when I'm at the range shooting my AR. It doesnt bother me :mamoru: :hsugh:

I try to not sit next to somebody on my right, since my casing flings at them. I usually try to leave at least 1 space open, since sometimes the brass will bounce across 2 benches :o

Only 3 stalls over? My mini-14 was throwing casings to the other end of the rifle range... some were making it to the pistol range on the end... lol...

eWRXshun... How about that guy next to you at the range. He made a nice shield... lol

Some of you guys dont seem to get it.. the brake works great for the shooter as you are directly behind it.. but it redirects the muzzle blast to the sides, right into the people next to you.

Its great for you but sucks for everyone around you.

This is why its nice that I can shoot behind my house, I dont have to worry about other people and they don't have to worry about me :mamoru:

I have slowly become anti-muzzlebrake. And on .223's they are a useless accessory.

They cut down on muzzle hop for rapid fire. And on the mini-14s they improve accuracy.

They arent entirely useless on small calibers, though this is a muzzlebrake in a different sense :o
