MMA dont drink coffee before rolling v.whatilearnedtoday

    had about 30oz of coffee with breakfast this morning and I was lightheaded and shakey as all hell for the warmups and first couple drills today :down: but after some water and time it was all good and ended up going for about an hour twenty total ... things I learned/worked on today:

    - dont fucking drink coffee before rolling

    - I need to move my hips a lot more on the bottom and not try to bench press everyone off me :o

    - relax, relax, relax on the top and bottom, I try to squeeze people too much and tire myself out

    - I had three + times when I should have been able to tap the guy, a triangle on his neck, had his back with one hook in, and an odd-angled arm bar ... but I couldn't get enough leverage on any of the three and the guy slipped out ... I think I would have had all three easily with a little more practice on body positioning.

    - bjj is very different from wrestling

    ive gotten a lot better at keeping my legs busy and using my hands/arms to check the guys hips ... but I am still keeping my hips way too planted, not having a bjj background, that's the strangest part of it for me.

    luckily there is a good pool of people with experience at my gym and they're very helpful :x:

    So how many armbars did you catch trying to bench press people off you?

    well, not literally trying to bench people off me, but my first instinct when on the bottom and trying to escape is to separate from the other guy by pressing him ... i didn't get arm barred doing it, but I wasn't very successful getting out of a side-control position with guys that are my size doing that.

    coffee sends me to the restroom, gets the pipes moving if ya know what i'm saying lol, so coffee before training would turn ugly for me lol

    everybody handles caffeine differently. I'm majorly addicted to it, so coffee before a morning roll is a must, or else i'm dragging ass.
