Ok, I finally told some idiot that he shouldnt be curling in the squat rack.
Our gym only has 2 racks and 10's of places to curl.
A newby guy who racked up a total of 65lbs on the olympic bar was curling.
I was mid through my squats when i just had to tell him.

I did it as professional as i could. Just told him its all part of gym ettiquate and that there are only 2 places to squat at our gym but tons of places to curl. Said that if he didnt believe me, just finish his curl workout and when he gets home, to google "curling in the squat rack" and take my word for it.

He did one more set and went to the dumb bells.

I mean, if I didnt know better and someone told me, i would appreciate it.

    i disagree.
If nobody takes time to explain to these people proper etiquette, then we can all stop complaining about it.
I did it professionally without embarrassing him.

You have your opinion. To me its no worst than giving advice on anything in the gym.
I agree everyone should shut up and lift, but, when we have a packed gym and there is only 2 racks and a 30 second conversation can save untold amounts of frustration from others, no harm done.

I wish I was big enough to tell people not to curl in the squat rack :hs:

We have huge, competitive guys who do that... and I'm 5'10" and 175ish. lol they would probably pick me up and eat me if I said that.

But seriously. It pisses me off. And when assholes leave a ton of weight on the bars when they're done. Dude, I'm not going to warm up with 275 on the bench so take that shit off when you're done.

edit - I admit I leave 135 on the bar (for bench) when I'm done, because 90% of people start with that, or at least that. But I usually take all the weight off the squat bar when I'm done not because most people don't warm up with 135, but because if the next guy who's going to squat is taller or shorter than me, it's annoying to move the bar up or down a notch when there's weight on it. Or if it's in a squat cage, you have to remove the bar, readjust the pins, and then put the bar back up. That's fucking annoying if there's weight on it, so I try to be polite and take all the weight off to make the next guy's life easier.

    fuck that.
    who fucking waits? seriously.
They are on other machines watching, waiting while doing other exercise. So at any given point there could have been 5 others "waiting" while doing other shit.

Im not a fucking meat head, but, Im about fed up with fucking people throwing weights, not replacing weights and not cleaning their equipment and most of all, curling in the squat rack.

I educated this newby with the utmost professionalism and mannerisms.

for 5 years ive never offered unsolicited advice with 2 exceptions.
    this one noted here.
And another where a chic was doing reverse steps up a very tall platform using 120 barbell on her shoulders right next to me (like within 1 foot).
Only reason I told her she was going to kill herself was that I feared that she was gonna fall on me :)

    um. No.
teh is a habit from the internets.
I know how embarassing it is if someone offers unsolicited advice, ive seen dickheads do it to others. So knowing that, I wanted to give this guy a heads up.
Word for word, it was "by all means, finish your sets, but google it at home if you dont believe me".

i dont see what's so bad about giving advice in the gym. last night, i saw some guy deadlifting 185 with his whole back rounded. after he finished his set, i told him to do what what in the butt and he thanked me.

looking out for others isn't a bad thing. thankfully, when i first started out, i was never too shy to just ask someone to help with my squat form.

edit: and it actually happened with 2 other guys a couple weeks ago. same situation.
