    Been wondering how much donating blood would affect muscle growth. Would giving away two pints of blood a month hurt that much.

    The human body contains 8-10 pints of blood.

    Two pints a month? That's pushing it, I would think.

    Last time I donated it took 2-3 days before I felt top of my game again. I would think you could do one pint once a month regularly if you schedule yourself well.

    According to the American Red Cross site.. you can only do it every 56 days. Thats if you are donating whole blood though. Its different with plasma and platelettes (sp?). You will feel a bit off for a day or two but it won't have any lasting effects on your training.

    2 pints a month is a lot. Where I donate, they only take one pint and you can only donate every couple months.

    i read something somewhere about plasma being important to muscle growth, is that true, and if not is it okay to donate plasma? :dunno:
