I usually drink a lot of water during my work outs and dont like to do abs at the end of my work out because usually I get cramps. Are there any down sides to doing abs before a chest, back, or arm work out?

if you work out your abs then try to hit compound movements, i think it might be slightly harder

it doesn't really seem like it would effect a chest or arm work out too much. I can see it effecting rows or squats though.

I think it would make any other exercise harder if your abs are already fatigued. I know try to keep my abs tight in every exercise i do.

Depends, if you are doing front squats, back squats, cleans, dead lifts, over head presses, etc, all those exercises have just become a little more difficult. If you are doing bench, curls, tricep, lat work, shouldn't matter.

And this is why in 2008 China is going to beat the living shit out of everyone in Weightlifting at the Olympics.

I do them after just because I hit up abs on squat/deadlift days and don't want to make them weak/exhausted before doing the heavy compound movements where I need my core to be 100%.

I drink a shitload of water and don't ever get cramps, but for abs I just do cable crunches.... maybe if I did higher rep stuff I'd get em :dunno:
