Here's some quick info for you:

I have been doing 3 miles of cardio a day (running at 8min mile pace), and have also been lifting twice a week. I've seen no change at all, and I've been doing this for about three months now.

I'm 6'1 190 and have a gut. I've had it for awhile now, and have been trying incredibly hard to lose it.

Last summer I went through an intense workout program where I lifted 5 times a week, and also ran 5 times a week (about 2 miles at an 8min mile pace). I still saw no changes during that summer.

Basically, I'm going to work as hard as I did last summer but I feel like all this work will be done for nothing. My body has no changes at ALL, and it's getting really frustrating.

Anyone have any tips for me to see actual changes :hs:

I've read the n00b sticky, I'd just like a more personal response to my question. I've done the things the sticky has said, and I just haven't been able to progress.

weight loss = calorie deficit = more calories expended than taken in.

repeat: diet is where your problem lies

    1:big grin:iet
2:Try making your cardio a wee bit more intense....for example, instead of running 3 miles @ 8 min. pace, try 2 @ 6.5 min-7 to start and throw in sets of pushups every 500 yards or so. High intensity+full body exercise=very high calorie burn and fat oxidation.

    That's a decent non-elite-racing pace. Hell, I'll be happy if I hit 8 mins/mile next season.

And to the original poster- what everyone else said about diet? Yeah. It's really fucking easy to eat enough to overshadow any cardio/lifting you're doing. What are you eating? How much? What are your protein/carb/fat ratios?

If you aren't tracking what you eat, now is a good time to start.

You can do all the cardio in the world and lift all the weight you want, but if your diet isn't right then you're just wasting your time.

it's true. it's easy to eat 200+ calories above your maintenence level and eliminate any progress you potentially could have made that day.

like me with the popcorn tonight.

    and the beer.

I believe you burn 100 calories for every mile that you run, so if you're running 3 miles a day that's 300 calories, and you said you're running it EVERY SINGLE DAY so that's 2,100 calories PER WEEK that you're burning from cardio alone and that's not even including the weight lifting you're doing!

Your diet is totally fucked up if you're not losing any weight.
