    Background desaturated as it wasn't ideal. Otherwise, excellent lighting conditions provided by a sunset :)

    ? the rear of the dog is... but the main part / head is not... :o

    How do you desaturate the background like that?

    just select whatever in photoshop and desaturate.

    duplicate the background as a new layer.
    desaturate the new layer.
    erase the parts that you don't want to be black and white.
