GUN Does your USP catch move around a little when you shake the gun?

I performed a detail strip of my USP9 yesterday to clean the inside of the receiver and after reassembling and function checking (every test was flawless), I noticed that if I shook the gun a little, I heard a piece moving a bit... like something was loose.

I removed the slide and played a bit more to find out the larger part of the catch was moving a bit (it has about 2mm of play): is this normal ? I noticed something very similar on my USP45 (never disassembled) to a lesser extent. I'm just nervous that I could perform all of the function checks properly and still have something screwed up in there.

So, do yours have some play like that or should I be worried?? :hsd:

I haven't noticed that on either of mine, but I don't have them here to verify 100%. I'll check when I get home though.

I think I know why it's a little loose: could it be lack of lubrication!? Since the parts are metal and there's no liquid/oil to keep them together, when I move the gun very fast, the catch moves a bit and "hits" the other parts, making a metallic noise. If I were to lub it properly, it wouldn't hit metal on metal, but rather lub on lub...

I basically removed all oil and shit from the pieces when I wiped them off after disassembly. Does this make sense ??

No, practically new. I'll see if putting lub on it helps when I get home...

K, I put lub in it and the loose is almost non-existent. I think gun grease would be even better, but I don't have any on-hand.

Do USP's frequently need detail stripping? I didn't think they were picky guns. :dunno:

They're not picky guns... I just dropped mine in a very sandy area, hence the need for a detail strip. Otherwise, they rarely get really dirty.
