I'm planning on heading down to CMP South store in the next few weeks, what are the chances of getting a rifle that was either made or saw action in WWII?

WWII production date shouldn't be hard to find at all.

this. Something like 5 million Garands were manufactured, and IIRC most were made during WW2. A good-sized chunk were made after Korea (H&R, IHC, and SA), but a Springfield under....probably under 4XXXXXX, I think, and any Winchester you see (if there are any there; they tend to be more expensive than the others) will be WW2-era rifles.

Well, the receiver will be from then, anyway. Far and away the vast majority of the wartime rifles were overhauled at least once at arsenals or army depots either here, or overseas (for example, we loaned Greece a bunch of Garands, and some to Italy, Denmark, etc), so they won't be likely to have any original wartime parts left on them.

they'll have a higher price than all the others, but the receivers are guaranteed to be WW2 manufacture.

I want one of the CMP Garands, it looks like I meet all the requirements (CHL, member of one of the affiliates). How hard is it to get one?

Not. Send in all the paperwork (including notarized order form and $), and they'll get working on your order. BTW, it ships straight to your door by overnight express (UPS, I think, but I forget), no FFL needed.
