    Three of my five hard drives are randomly recognized or not recognized, they're all less than a year old and clearly not dead. Same thing with my firewire card.

    Did you check the IRQs designated to these devices? Could be a bad mobo

    could also be a power problem. check your PSU.
    check the cables as well

  5. does your power supply have seperate outputs for each rail? or perhaps your power supply doesn't have enough juice for the drives?
