Just use a 50/50 mixture of paint thinner and bleach. Swish around and gargle 2x a day.

I did some research on this back in the day and the general conclusion was "no." You will probably get some temporary sensitivity, but I didn't see any studies that suggested enamel damage or anything.

    Check google.

the paint thinner loosens the plaque and the bleach leaves a nice shine

I have somewhat yellow teeth. I quit smoking except when I drink. I don't drink coffee, and hardly drink soda or diet soda anymore. They are still yellow. Teeth are not always naturally white, so I just assume mine aren't and I'm fine with it. If they were disgusting then yea I'd whiten them, but my dentists/orthodontists always tell me how amazingly clean they are, so they're healthy and that's the most important thing.

It's really not that bad, and my friend said he did whitening strips and that his teeth hurt for a few weeks after... just doesn't seem worth it to me but I might look into it someday.

The more you do it the greater chance you have of it hurting.

I went through two boxes of whitening strips, back to back, with no pain. I did another box a few months later and had to stop because I got these stabbing pains while I was wearing the strips.

About a year later I got the Advanced Whitestrips or whatever from Crest (the ones that only take one week to do) and I had to stop using the bottom ones because of the stabbing pain.

About two years later, I got some custom trays made from the dentist and I switched to Opalescence whitening gel, 15% strength. This was ok for a while, but eventually I started getting the stabbing pains again. Of course, the gel works better than the Whitestrips, so I only had to do a few applications to have whiter teeth.

The last time I bleached was last week, when I did two applications of 15% gel for about an hour or two each time, and there was no pain. I had a little sensitivity the next day.

The point is, for most people, it's not going to hurt the first few times you do it.

edit - the "stabbing pain" I'm describing is probably one of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life. It comes out of nowhere, but you can feel it coming on with like a half-second warning, and then for the next 2-3 seconds, it feels like someone is prying your tooth out of the socket with a knife... and then it goes away. It makes me stop whatever I'm doing and focus on the pain, which is why I won't drive while I'm beaching my teeth anymore. My ex was laying in bed with her trays in one night, and she sits up suddenly, screams "FUCK!!! OMG!!!" and rips the trays out of her mouth. She got the stabbing pains, too.

Some people don't seem to get any pain, tho. And they also sell anti-sensitivity gel you can put in your trays and do a bleaching session with that between bleachings which is supposed to reduce the sensitivity.

I'm glad someone knows what I'm talking about. Most people are like "ha whatever pussy it doesn't hurt."

    Yes, it does :noes:

jokka, have you ever tried the anti-sensitivity gel in between bleaching sessions?

I know a couple people who do teeth whitening like once a year and they have sensitive teeth now...

Just not worth it to me, I'd rather roll with some yellow, pain-free teeth.
