I travel for work a lot, so the best quick meal I've found is a grilled chicken sandwich w/o mayo and a parfait at McD's. Only problem I see with this is that the sandwich has like 1200 mg of sodium...anything wrong with that? I drink a lot of water all day.

Sodium is bad for blood pressure, for bones, and retains water so you will have a bloated look.

If there's a history of high blood pressure in your family, consuming large amounts of sodium is a bad idea. I know a guy who had high blood pressure in his family, took in a lot of sodium every day and ended up with really high blood pressure that he has to take pills for (for the rest of his life).

That high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes if not kept under check.

What I mean is his statement is extremely simplified and depends on many other factors than just sodium.

    1) bp issues are seen in salt-sensitive people, but the other people in here won't really be affected.

    2) low fluid & potassium intake is a major factor in sodium-related health issues.

    3) Water retention from sodium tends to be low enough that it's a non-issue unless you are a bodybuilder trying to flush water right before a contest.

good point but considering the insane amount of sodium in peoples diets from fast and frozen foods, it think its still a good warning..

I think the safest thing is just to make sure you drink lots of water to flush out whatever you do eat. Also helps to prevent/reduce bloating from the water retention.

I hate eating chinese food then having my fingers get so fat I can't get my ring off. Makes me feel like a gigantic lard ass
