The red and white cables from my head unit to my amp,
I'm just using some standard cables, they look pretty small... would it help if I got better cables?

It would probably be a good idea :dunno:
Although, my system has cheap Head-(Line converter)-EQ and EQ-Amp cables and it works fine. I made sure I used a good cable for the EQ-Sub Amp connection, because it's the ONLY signal earthing point in my car. NO noise/interference whatsoever :bigthumb:

I say cabling can make a difference. I have used the cheap red/white Radio Shack specials, and some expensive ones as well. I think the thicker heavier cables do make a difference in sound. Although, personally, I think Monster is over priced. I've used Phoenix Gold, AR, and NXG Cables, and I like all of htem, for a fraction of the cost of Monster.

    IMHO

The only difference in sound is that higher quality cables MAY reduce induced or radiated noise, depending on their design. Its not even an issue at times. On my first install I used a 5 dollar 20foot patch cable, no more than 2mm thick. I had absolutely no noise in the system. I have heard of people with interconnects costing over 100 dollars with noise in their systems..... Go figure.

Most cable "technology" is marketing bullshit and nothing else. There are designs that do actually work better, but a website like this http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/cables.htm covers actuall technical details.
