Does powdered Whey Protien have a shelf life?

    I have a 5lb jug from like 3 years ago of ON Whey. Ive been using it for 2 months now and just wondering if possibly it has degraded any? I dont see how it could break down.....but im no chemist

    yeah nothing could go wrong with a dairy product thats been sitting around for years

    cant tell if your being serious or sarcastic,

    I just checked it has an expiration date of 5/07

    IMO if it tastes okay then you probably have nothing to worry about... I don't know if the nutrients die or something after that amount of time or what. If it tastes like it's gone bad then toss it.

    it can go bad, but if it was stored in a cool dry place it may still be ok...smell it, then eat it...tastes bad then toss it

    I've eaten tubs of whey/casien powder that was over a year past it's expiration date and I'm still alive. So unless you stored it in the trunk of your car all summer it's probably fine.

    IIRC, the main reason for the expiration date was basically to set a point after which they couldn't' guarantee the protein content because the protein breaks down over time

    ok, so its possible im just not getting as much protein as advertised. It doesn't smell bad at all. I went ahead and ordered some new stuff since im almost done with it anyways, and ordered some creatine as well since ive never tried it before
