does it REALLY matter when you take your protein shake?

    is there a problem w/ taking it several hours after you lift rather than right after?

    Well this is heresy around here but it's a lot less important than people believe. Carbohydrate intake is much more important following exercise than protein intake, and in fact if you consume adequate protein throughout the day to meet your needs the timing is probably irrelevant.

    Absolutly. You would not want to take it several hours after u lift, more like within 45 minutes of lifting and with simple carbs...simple carbs spike insulin which increases protein absorbtion.

    just make a shake with some oats/peanut butter tossed in to get your carbs/protien and drink within an hour of lifting

    Problem is, 2 or so days of the week i lift @ college in between classes......so, i ll lift around 1130am and not get home until 545 pm ( i live off campus)

    The sooner the better, some guys I know even start drinking it at the tail end of their workout.

    I would'nt bust your balls over it...unless you're like working out on a complete empty stomach.

    take food to school with you?

    Just put protein powder in shakers and just add water throughout the day.

    Shit I could'nt go over 6 hours without eating :ugh:

    Especially if I've just done a monster workout

    :werd: just take a bottle pre filled with however much protein you take, fill it up with water / milk at school. Drink that then drink a bottle of gatorade or apple juice or something to spike your insulin.
