That should say "pullups" but I ran out of room.

I hate it when douchebags at the gym use too much weight and do like 1/4 squats, or don't touch the bar to their chest in bench, or bounce it off their chest, or brag about how many pullups they can do, but they only go down half way.

I know it shouldn't concern me, but it really pisses me off. Probably because I'm totally an ectomorph. I've had to fight for every pound of muslce I have. It took be two years to be able to squat 225 (ass to the ground, of course). I guess it pisses me off because I see these people using shitty ass form with way better muscle development than me (I know it's genetics, but still), and then there's me, busting my ass with perfect form and still being all skinny.

That being said, I've competed in a powerlifting meet, and I know that these guys' form would get them laughed out of a competition, but it still annoys me in the gym.

So to all you good form/low weight guys, just remember: your ass to the grass 225 squat is better than some douchbag with 315 doing 10 reps of 1/4 squats.

Don't blame genetics, eat more. I went from 165 to 272 in 5 years. Don't worry about other people either, it's you against yourself. Stay positive.

I don't touch my chest for bench... but thats because i have bad shoulders. I stop about an inch before my chest.

It only bothers me when they brag to me about their numbers or tell me to do something their way.

You are supposed to stop on your chest when benching?

I stop about 0.5-1" from chest and go back up. It feels like a lot more work top me that way. :dunno:

You'd probably get a lot more done in the gym if you stopped checking everyone out and concentrated on yourself. :p

    Really?

I was touching them to my chest and sometimes gave it a small bouce, and I thought I was doing it wrong. So I searched and searched; every site I went to said to stop right above the chest then go back up. So I did, and it was a lot harder. So you are saying it has to touch the chest before you go back up?

Touch your chest, don't bounce it. And if you want to make it really hard, pause on your chest for a 2-3 seconds and then press.

Cool thanks, I start doing them that way.

Back on topic, I see people doing that all the time. Not the squats though, besides me and one other guy, I don't really ever see anyone doing squats. Other than that it's just people swinging up curls. Oh, and me not doing full reps on bench.

I am sure most of them don't know they aren't doing it right. I usually watch the short videos on the 'net then practice at home with no weight before I go into the gym. Although I did see someone benching 225ish with their legs straight up in the air screaming once.

It wouldn't have taken that long if you didn't spend all your gym time staring at other people's form. Let them do whatever they want unless they inconvenience you in some way or try to give you advice.

    QFT.

I don't worry about other people's form, that's their business. If they ask me for help, that's a different matter.

I'll only bitch about people taking up squat racks to do something like curls- that's just bad gym etiquette.

it doesn't really piss me off at all, i just think its funny. i always see the same guy doing pin pulls and bouncing quarter squats off the pins. this guy is huge compared to me, but its still funny to see.

I've been doing my heavy squats at parallel and for my next workout would do ass to the grass squats a lighter weight.

parallel squats are good.. ass to grass will just recruit more muscles and most likely make the lift harder, so when you go for parallel, you'd probably be surprised at your ability to put up more weight than you'd been doing ATG.

Good :hsd: My knees do some wierd shit when I used to try ass to grass, but I think I would be much better at it now that I've started to develop and use those muscles.
