GUN Does it piss anyone else off when morons "sportorize" milsurps?

At least they did a clean job of it. I don't really care for milsurps myself. Would rather have a proper black rifle.

  3. It bothers me when some retard with some shitty cheap milsurp rifle sits down next to me at the range and rapid fires (as quickly as one can single feed ammo into a bolt gun at least) his absurdly loud rifle into 12" groups at 50 yards.

Now, I'm not saying everyone who owns a milsurp rifle is a cheap idiot, but that's my experience with most of them at my local range.

Im a fan of letting people do what the want with their gun. But I'll still make fun of them.

Not my money, investment, history, whatever people want to bitch about problem.

Is it as annoying as some pale kid with jeans, a black hat, and tactical gear pretending to be on SEAL Team 69 with a piece of paper 20 feet away using his $1500 AR?

Because I see this much more often :mamoru:

  9. Haven't seen that at my range very often. Mostly we get guys coming out with their generic hunting rifles and shooting 6-10" groups at 100 yards.

it doesn't bother me... when they go to sell it, they usually get a fraction of it's worth if left alone... that means i get it for cheap, and it usually doesn't cost much to bring it back.

That's not really sporterized, it's just cut down. These are sporterized:

^ :hsd: problem is that these milsurp things were almost literally a dime a dozen in the 50s when the vast majority of sporterizing took place.

I have a much softer spot for the k31 than I do for most other milsurps but I don't think thats the worst thing I've seen. When it has a new stock, welded on scope rings, fal mags, and a stars and stripes paint job then we'll talk horrible.

I personally don't like to see chop jobs on rifles, refinishing I'm usually fine with. Depending on the rarity of the arm though.

My buddy had a bring back volksgewehr 98 that was unfortunately sporterized. It was done well but still felt like a kick in the ass considering the rarity of them. Unfortunately that is what happened to a lot of bring backs. Same kid also has a sporterized No 4 mk 1 that we are bringing back to original glory now.

I have thought about semi-sporteriizing my K31 but not doing any real hacking to it.

I would replace the stock with a different one and put a St Maries scope mount on it. I might consider getting it refinished but that would be the only unalterable part done to it.

But chopping it or any stuff like that, no thanks.

I don't like it much when someone does it to a rare mil-surp. Mosins, yeah it's going to happen they are like $60, but K-31s and SVT-40s are not as common and need to be kept original IMO.
