its the exception if it doesn't. My renters insurance does. My parents homeowners policy does. Both are with State Farm.

There's a catch -- they only cover, usually, $10k for theft.

If you have $20k-30$k or over, or whatever, then that won't be covered. You have to then take out an extra policy and usually pay in for additional coverage of $1k increments.

I have renters insurance and they covered me up to $2500 for theft, maybe more coverage for fire damage or something, not sure.

I've really been meaning to check into this. If they don't cover it, then I think it's worth taking out extra coverage because you can be assured if a thief sees guns he's probably taking them. They're probably pretty easy to sell.

You need to call your insurance company and ask how much is covered for firearms. Your policy might be for have $50K of coverage, but not all of this will cover your firearms.

For example, I have $25K of coverage with my renter's insurance, but the original policy only covered $2500 for firearms. I had to add a "rider" and got my coverage bumped up by $5000.

Also for supplemental firearms coverage, the NRA has pretty good rates, plus like $1000 is covered with a basic NRA membership.
