I'm 22, and baldness (classic horseshoe pattern) runs in my family. I'm already starting to deal with it, where you can see the top stripe of my hair is thinning out pretty bad. A lot of my friends give me shit about it, to just tease me about something, but it ends up just pointing out something that I already feel "depressed" about.

So basically, from a female standpoint, how important is a guy having hair to you. I'm already considering a hair transplant kind of thing for a graduation present, but I want to get some opinions on it first.

In the least shallow way possible, it's not like I don't pickup girls or anything like that, it's more of a personal problem to me.

Honestly dude, if a girl doesn't like you because of your hair, she probably wasn't worth it in the first place.

If you really do want hair, there are several methods of doing it. Although I don't think most women will have too much of a problem with it.

Just shave it all off man. Short of shaving my head like Bozo the Clown, I've done everything imaginable with my hair and still managed to have a good time.

i used to have a problem with hair because i thought girls loved guys with curly hair
    (and glasses)

cuz i live in an area where apparently 90% of the guys have curly hair + glasses, and girls were always commenting on how nice their hair is and how they like guys with glasses....... lol

so me, having straight hair (or semi-straight, watever), was not too happy

but i grew up and i dun give a fuck and now i get all the p0on woohoo

Castration gives back 100% of your hair :hsugh: and that's not a lie.

But that goes pretty much to far if you ask me. What i have heard is that woman consider guys without hair as a 'let down' and my collegue (who is bald with horseshoe pattern) receives shit on a 'daily' basis. Now this is only copable if you stand strong in your shoes and don't get upset or depressed from it, otherwhise you might consider getting a wig , be warned tho there's a lot of 'crap' going on in that world, too many companies want to make an advantage out of your 'disadvantage' and earn money of you. Therefore you should consider it 'carefully' , my uncle lost all his hair before he became 21, it runs in his family and he got himself a 'special' expensive 4000 $ dollar costing wig, that matches his own hair, and that can even be used under the shower(waterproof) , it makes him look much more desirable. We unfortunatly live in a world that is based on superficial views. So my advice is you get a simular wig, although unpleasant you might hopefully receive less shit comment.

I would probably heavily research the hair transplant stuff if it happened to me...apparently the methods and technology have gotten much better since the "hair plug" days.

Yea, and when you're sick of not having hair you can grow it back where as balding people can't....

True. But at least it's an option that isn't expensive or difficult to obtain. IMHO it probably might look even better then a transplant or toupee.

If you're losing hair it's a good idea to shave it off. This makes it much easy to remove sebum and DHT that clogs the follicles. You'll need a shampoo like Nioxin. The problem is that you may have to leave it shaved forever. I keep mine at a quarter inch.

Boo Hoo. The point is its not a big deal. Try not to be so vain.

Although personally... <hypocrite> if my hairline starting receding, I would attack it with every chemical known to man that helps. You can get combo shampoos from Canada with every topical drug there is, and apply it to the affected areas.

I wouldn't say that hair makes the man, but I definitely prefer a full head of hair. But there are tons of women out there like Chica, who don't mind balding men.

It is a personal preference thing, just like weight and hair/eye color. What is pleasing to one may not be for someone else.

A person's preferences in a mate's appearance are neither good nor bad, nor do they make that person "not worth it". They just "are".

I wouldn't worry about it a bit, but if you like yourself better with hair, check out the options. There is no harm in making yourself happy.

Big Dicks, Big Firm Teenage Tits, Tight Vaginas, Hot Anal, Abs of Steel. How many of these have you got? You're losing one of the superficial things that some people like. Oh noes. Maybe now you'll attract people with more substance. That could definately be a good thing.

You know, its worth mentioning... there is no common statement "Hair makes the man." You invented that, or rather derived it from, "The clothes make the man." Or "The man makes the clothes."

    b2bs,

You may need to move to Arizona where a lot of people walk around with bald heads due to the heat. (I need the heat to cause me to sweat so that the hair follicles get purged of toxins.)

But I can sympathise. I went through temporary alopecia. And I was devestated. Now I no longer worry about it. What makes a man attractive will be how happy you are, how you can laugh and smile and enjoy your life.

So, yes, you can watch the Seinfeld episodes and get depressed or the Wrestling episodes and see how they are idolised. What you have to work through is your depression. I know all too well the looks a balding man gets. It tends to distroy all of your confidence. But you're not seeing the obvious: bald men get married, your father was probably balding and he got married, so chances are good that you'll get married. And before you'll get married you have to date many women. They did it, so will you.

To prove how shallow people are, just pump yourself up with weights. It should give you confidence when you see women giving you lustful looks.

The bad thing about going bald is that not everyone has a symmetrical mellon. :big grin: If you don't have an oversized head it shouldn't pose a problem. Being in PA your main concern may be that people will think you're a skin head, a white supremist, a jailbird, etc. If that's the case learn to dress sharp, there's nothing like a double breasted suit to make a man feel like a million.

Overcome your depression, learn to accept yourself, exude happiness and confidence and your problems will probably fade away.

go with Peydog's suggestion. Shave it off. And walk tall.

Who would you rather look like...George Costanza or Denis Franz (NYPD Blue). Both had classic male pattern baldness.

Or Captain Picard, or Murray (MTM)/Capt Stubing (Love Boat). They also had MPB.

In each case, it's the confidence that shows us the man's character. Not the hair.

Yeah, I know these are fictional characters, but the point remains. And since I don't know you personally, I can't use examples irl.

Well, bobdole's sympathy just earned him a spot on my ignore list. I don't suffer childish trolls. It is sometimes gratifying hitting the ignore button. :big grin: This site is great. Once you hit the ignore button you'll never see their responses. On other sites you end up with just their names showing.

Actually I know Tams a little bit, and she's definitely not perfect. Pretty close to it though ;)
